Telšiai Old Town. Secrets of the City of Seven Hills
Telšiai, the capital of Samogitia, was built on seven hills just like Rome. The old town, stretching along Lake Mastis, stands out for its unique architecture. New works of small sculptures are constantly appearing here, and visitors are invited to a fun game to count the number of bears, the symbol of Telšiai. Families with children, people with disabilities or special needs can all look for them. They are offered easy routes leading to the Market, Cathedral and Independence Squares, which host town festivals and events. At the amphitheatre, where seating is specially designed for the disabled, visitors can take the elevator down to the shore of Lake Mastis.
People with visual impairments can feel the layout of the Cathedral Square with their hands, with one of the seven hills of the town, the Telšiai Cathedral of St Antanas Paduvietis, the Telšiai Priest Seminary and the streets of the old town all shown in Braille. Excursions around the most interesting places in Telšiai can be booked in sign language.
